There’s a new name flying over one of Downtown Panama City’s familiar nightlife addresses.

Grace O’Malley’s Irish Tavern has taken over the former House of Henry location at 461 Harrison Avenue, bringing a fresh Irish-pub identity to the downtown dining and entertainment scene. Florida business records show Grace O’Malley’s Irish Tavern LLC was officially established July 1, 2026, with 461 Harrison Avenue listed as its principal address. 

But longtime House of Henry customers shouldn’t expect the new tavern to simply be the old pub with a different sign. Grace O’Malley’s is developing its own personality around Irish food, cold pints, live music, comedy and pirate-inspired fun. Its official Facebook page describes the concept as a place for “amazing food, cold pints, live music and pirate Irish adventures.” 

From House of Henry to Grace O’Malley’s

The transition keeps an established downtown entertainment space active while giving it a completely different theme.

The tavern takes its name from Grace O’Malley, the legendary 16th-century Irish clan leader, sailor and sea captain often remembered as Ireland’s “Pirate Queen.” That history gives the new owners plenty of inspiration for creating something that is part Irish tavern and part pirate hideaway.

An announcement for the Sons of Saints’ debut at the venue described the transition by saying Grace O’Malley had “taken the torch” from House of Henry, while noting that the new operation plans to feature events, musical acts and traditional Irish fare with a twist. 

That combination could make Grace O’Malley’s particularly interesting for Panhandle Fork readers. It isn’t positioning itself as only a restaurant or only a bar. The idea appears to be dinner, drinks and entertainment all under one roof.

What’s on the Food Menu?

Grace O’Malley’shas been rolling out its menu as part of the opening, with the tavern announcing that chef Mike Walsh was developing the new food program. 

The tavern has also published a dedicated menu post through its social channels, although the complete current menu and prices are not yet consistently available through its public website/search listings. 

The concept has specifically been promoted as serving traditional Irish fare with a twist, so expect the food side of Grace O’Malley’s to lean more toward substantial pub food than a simple late-night bar menu.

For now, Panhandle Fork recommends checking the tavern’s current Facebook menu before visiting because dishes, opening specials and pricing are still evolving as the new restaurant settles in.

Cold Pints and an Irish-Tavern Bar

The drink side is just as important to the Grace O’Malley’s experience.

The tavern is promoting itself around cold pints and an Irish pub atmosphere, making the bar a centerpiece rather than an afterthought. 

For customers heading downtown for dinner, Grace O’Malley’s gives you the option of staying afterward instead of moving to another venue for entertainment. Grab dinner, settle in with a pint or cocktail and wait for the evening’s band or comedy show to begin.

Because the tavern is still newly opened, drink specials and daily promotions may change frequently. Following its social page is currently the best way to catch newly announced food and beverage specials.

Live Music Is a Major Part of the Plan

One of the biggest reasons Grace O’Malley’s is worth watching is its commitment to live entertainment.

The former House of Henry already had a reputation as a downtown music and nightlife location, and Grace O’Malley’s appears determined to continue, and possibly expand, that role.

Local performers started booking the venue almost immediately.

Singer-songwriter Stevie Monce promoted an appearance at the “brand new Grace O’Malley’s Irish Tavern,” specifically identifying it as the former House of Henry. 

The tavern has also hosted Lane Maury Music, while other entertainment promotions have advertised additional performers at the new venue.

One of the first notable full-band appearances came from Sons of Saints, which made its Grace O’Malley’s debut on August 21. Their show announcement described Grace O’Malley’s as a new themed downtown bar built around music, events and Irish food. 

Another recent Saturday-night promotion featured Scratch 2020, with a 9 p.m. show at Grace O’Malley’s in the former House of Henry location.

The exact bands rotate rather than following one permanently fixed weekly band schedule, so the tavern’s weekly social calendar will be the best source for Friday and Saturday performers.

Comedy Joins the Entertainment Lineup

Music isn’t the only entertainment planned.

Grace O’Malley’s has also teamed with Coastal Comedy Krew for live stand-up comedy.

The first widely promoted Late Night Laughs at Grace O’Malley’s took place August 14 at 9 p.m. The show brought professional comedians into the tavern for a ticketed downtown comedy night. 

That relationship appears likely to continue. Coastal Comedy Krew’s event page has already incorporated Grace O’Malley’s into its downtown comedy programming, giving the venue another reason for people to visit beyond dinner and live bands. 

A New Food-and-Entertainment Destination Downtown

The arrival of Grace O’Malley’s is especially interesting because it preserves something Downtown Panama City has been building steadily: places where food, drinks and entertainment overlap.

Instead of eating somewhere and then driving across town for music, customers can make Grace O’Malley’s the entire evening.

Start with Irish-inspired pub food. Order a pint. Stick around as the tables start filling for a band. Or plan a Friday night around a comedy show.

For visitors walking Harrison Avenue, it also adds another distinctive destination to a growing downtown restaurant and nightlife district.
